What’s the difference between the
HUMVEE® and the H1 and H2? |
| |
Answer: The basic truck produced for the
U.S. Army and other military units is known as a High Mobility Multi-purpose
Wheeled Vehicle, or HMMWV, which the military started calling a HUMVEE®.
When AM General introduced a civilian version of the HMMWV, the company
gave it the official name of HUMMER. The civilianH1 has the same basic
design and components as the HUMVEE® military truck. Many creature
comforts have been added to make the H1 and H2 the world¹s most
serious 4x4 vehicle. Legends HUMMER offers many custom HUMMER modifications
that make these vehicles even more astonishing as off-road vehicles
and more luxurious and personalized. |

How long will my Legends HUMMER last? |
|
| |
Answer: The unique features of a HUMMER an aluminum
body and sealed components all add up to a vehicle that should provide
long life. The military expects to rotate the vehicle about every
10-12 years, so that’s their expectation for the vehicle. As
with any automotive product, how a HUMMER is used determines how long
it will last. Legends HUMMER offers the most comprehensive HUMMER
warranty available anywhere. |

Can the tires actually inflate and deflate when driving? |
|
| |
Answer: Yes, all H1s are equipped with the Central Tire
Inflation System (CTIS). Two rocker switches enable the driver to
inflate or deflate the front tires together, the rear tires together
or all four tires simultaneously. The compressor-driven system enables
the driver to perform these operations on the go from inside the cab.
This capability assures optimum traction and performance, increasing
the amount of rubber in contact with the road to suit terrain and
weather conditions. |

What kind of off-road capabilities do the H1 and
H2 possess? |
 |
| |
Answer: The H1 can climb a 22-inch vertical wall,
navigate a 60% grade, traverse a 40% grade side slope fully loaded
with nearly 3,500 pounds of payload, and operate in up to 30 inches
of water. The H2 can climb a 16-inch vertical wall, navigate a 60%
grade, traverse a 40% side slope, and operate in up to 20 inches of

Do you need a special license to drive a HUMMER? |
|
| |
Answer: There¹s nothing about a HUMMER that would
require a special license. It is a class 3 truck, which does not require
special licensing. |
| |
|
|
| 8. |
Is it hard to drive? |
|
| |
Answer: It drives and rides much like large pickup trucks
or large SUVs.
Many say it drives like a sports car rather than a truck. There are
no gears to shift (it¹s a 4-speed automatic). Responsive power
steering and a short turning radius of 26.5 feet make the truck easy
to maneuver. |
| |
|
|
| 9. |
Is it waterproof? |
|
|
Answer: “Water-resistant” would probably
be the best term. A civilian H1 can
ford 30 inches of water and the H2 can ford 20 inches of water. Most
components are sealed against the elements allowing them to travel
respectively through water of this depth without damage to the vehicle. |
